Breakthrough to Better Relationships

Teacher: Alex Marquez, MS in Educational Leadership
Sunday Mornings: 9:00-10:00 AM

Do you struggle loving the unlovely? Do you have any high-maintenance relationships? Do you ever wonder why God wired people differently? Do you want to have a breakthrough to better relationships? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then this course is for you! God has given us a free will; and try as we may, we cannot make others change. However, we can study why we think and feel in certain ways, and what motivates us so that we can choose to change and handle others more elegantly, loving them as Christ loves.

In Breakthrough to Better Relationships, you will study concepts from Florence Littauer’s Personality Plus, Gary Chapman’s The Five Love Languages, Bill and Pam Farrell’s Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti, and discover what lies keep you in bondage and how God can set you free from them. You will also learn crucial skills from Alex Marquez’s Effective InfluenceTM seminar and other practical strategies so that you can be a better spouse, parent, relative, friend, teacher, co-worker, and church member. Join us for an exciting time as we learn how to put the fun in dysfunction and have a Breakthrough to Better Relationships!

The Absurdity of Life Without God

Teacher: Ron Lint, BS, Cert. Apologetics Instructor
Sunday Mornings: 9:00-10:00 AM

Is it reasonable to believe in Christ and the Christian faith? Are other religions more or less reasonable?  Does it really matter?  Maybe all roads lead to heaven. Is there a God at all? If there is no God, what are the consequences? Is your existence simply an accident of an explosion? Is there any ultimate meaning to life? Is there any such thing as absolute Truth? Is there any real hope for ultimate immortality? Does it matter if one lives as Mother Theresa or Stalin? In our class on the Absurdity of Life without God, we will delve deeply into these questions and many more. We will see video clips of debates between Christians and Atheists. We will study the beliefs of famous Atheists. We will study major world views – Theism, Pantheism, Polytheism and Atheism. This interactive class is necessary for all who want to be able to defend their faith. We need to know who we are and who we are not. We need to know what we believe and why. We will end the series of classes with a debate between an Atheist and a Christian (those debating will be from our class). Please join us and take part – you are needed.

Recommended Book: I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist, by Norman Geisler, Ph.D. & Frank Turek

Bible Prophecy & WWIII in the Middle East

Teacher: Dr. Jody Dillow
Sunday Mornings: 9:00-10:00 AM

Over 30% of the Bible was prophetic when written and much of it relates to events that will take place at the end of history.  In this class, we will survey the vast scope of biblical prophecy from the four world empires of Daniel, to the arrival of the Messiah and the second coming of Christ.  We will consider the rise of the Antichrist and the final world war, the Battle of Armageddon. Why do some believe that there will be a 1000-year reign of Christ after He returns?  When will the rapture occur?

Recent events in the Middle East are attracting great interest. Christians especially are challenged to correlate these events with their understanding of biblical prophecy.  Our special focus will be on the question, “Is the second coming of Christ near?”

Topics will include:

Prophecies of the Messiah
The Second Coming of Christ
Signs of the Times
When will the Rapture Occur?
The Final War of History, the Battle of Armageddon
How do we prepare ourselves for the Judgment Seat of Christ?
The Four World Empires and the Rise of AntiChrist
The Miracle of the Jewish State
Reigning with Christ in the Fulfillment of Human Destiny
God’s Plan of the Ages and the controlling principle of the Biblical Philosophy of History.

Hearing the Voice of God

Teacher: Michael Enos
Sunday Mornings: 9:00-10:00 AM

Over thirty-eight hundred times the Bible declares, “God said” or “Thus says the Lord” according to the Moody Handbook of Theology.

Wouldn’t it be great if God would just tell us what to do rather than leave us guessing or making decisions with blind faith? We might have said to ourselves, “If only He would speak to us like He did with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob or the prophets.”

Through this course you will:

·       Develop a solid understanding that God does want to speak to you.

·       Develop practical tools to help you hear God better.

·       Practice hearing God and obeying Him.

·       Growing in intimacy with your heavenly Father.

·       Understanding what road blocks hinder you from hearing God.

·       Enjoy a new life skill that is thrilling, fulfilling and potentially “wild.”

Jesus said : “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26.“The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing,” John 5:19.

This course aims to take the mystery out of hearing the voice of God through practicing simple spiritual disciplines, journaling, scripture study, personal worship, growing in faith and exercising your faith and your spiritual gifts.  Truly, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17. This course is not for the faint of heart, but for those that want to go deep with their Heavenly Father.

Teacher: Robert Moore, BS Physics, BS Computer Science
Thursday Evenings – 7:00-8:30 PM (Online Class)
